Kaffe Fassett's quilts go on show

Special offer on tickets for H&A readers to see Kaffe Fassett's collection at The Festival of Quilts

Crafters with an itch to stitch and anyone with an interest in antique textiles will find plenty of intricate workmanship to marvel at at The Festival of Quilts, which runs from 11th-14th August at Birmingham's NEC.

High on the billing is an array of antique quilts from the godfather of the patchwork, needlepoint and textile world, Kaffe Fassett. Thanks to Kaffe's attraction to colour, the exhibition will be a bright affair and a taster of the showcase of Kaffe's seaside home in Homes & Antiques' September issue (out 5th August).

Kaffe will be giving exclusive tours of the quilts he has chosen twice daily on 11th, 12th and 13th August.

Elsewhere, the 200th anniversary of the birth of Charlotte Brontë will be celebrated by Tracy Chevalier, the author of The Girl with a Pearl Earring, who has challenged Yorkshire quilters to interpret a quote from Jane Eyre in fabric form; quilts made to celebrate the 800th anniversary of Magna Carta will be on display; and there will be over 300 specialist patchwork and quilt suppliers for those that want to have a go at making their own.

Homes & Antiques has teamed up with The Festival of Quilts to offer readers discounted tickets to the show. Enter HANDA16 at checkout to receive a £2.50 discount on adult advance tickets and a £1.50 discount on concessions advance tickets.
